HYDERABAD: In a move to strengthen narcotics law enforcement and improve the quality of investigations under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS act), Telangana Police Academy on Monday launched NDPS investigation training for 60 officers.

The four-day specialised training programme for the 37th batch of the NDPS cases investigation course aims to enhance legal knowledge, investigative skills and procedural compliance in drug-related cases.

The programme focused on improving the capacity of police officers to effectively investigate NDPS cases and ensure successful prosecution through scientifically sound and legally compliant procedures. More than 5,000 police personnel have undergone training through the course since its introduction.

The training combines classroom instruction with practical, scenario-based exercises and includes modules on the use of digital tools, recent judicial pronouncements and updated investigation practices relating to narcotics offences.

The participants include police officers drawn from different units and different positions. Faculty members from policing, law, prosecution and forensic disciplines are contributing to the programme.
