Kadapa: A 62-day fishing ban will be enforced in select reservoirs of YSR Kadapa district from July 1 to August 31 to protect the natural breeding season of fish, fisheries department officials said.
Deputy director of fisheries K. Nagaiah said the ban will apply to licensed water bodies, including the Gandikota and Brahmasagar reservoirs, as well as the backwaters of Somasila.
He warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone found violating the prohibition or indulging in fishing activities during the ban period.
The official appealed to fishermen, licence holders and the public to cooperate with the authorities and refrain from fishing during the 62-day ban.
