Nellore: SPSR Nellore district police on Thursday conducted cordon-and-search operations in vulnerable areas across the district and seized 66 vehicles for lack of proper documents.
The operations were carried out in Raghavareddy Colony under the Buchi police station limits and Chandrababu Naidu Colony under the Kavali Rural police station limits between 5 am and 7.30 am following directions from senior police officers.
Around 60 police personnel, including inspectors and sub-inspectors from various police stations, participated in the drive. Police teams conducted door-to-door inspections in nearly 400 houses, focusing on rowdy-sheeters, suspects, absconding offenders, illegal activities, narcotics and suspicious vehicles based on digital crime mapping inputs.
During the operations, police seized 64 motorcycles and two autorickshaws. Two rowdy-sheeters and two suspects linked to old cases were identified, counselled and warned by officials.
Police also conducted awareness programmes on traffic regulations, cybercrime prevention, women’s safety, property offences, road safety and the harmful effects of narcotics. Residents were urged to report suspicious movements, drug peddling and anti-social activities.
Officials said similar cordon-and-search operations would continue across the district to strengthen law and order and public security.
