Pocket-Sized Devotion: Hindu Group Aims to Distribute 1 Million Hanuman Chalisas in South Africa
A prominent Hindu organization in South Africa has initiated a program to distribute one million pocket-sized copies of the Hanuman Chalisa for free over the next five years.
The launch of the first 10,000 copies, touted as the smallest printed edition of the Hanuman Chalisa in the world, occurred during an ‘Utsav of Devotion’ event at the Vishnu Temple on Saturday.Pandita Lucy Sigaban, founder of the South African Hindus, stated that the event was attended by representatives from more than a dozen religious organizations across the country, celebrating spiritual growth, community service, and cultural preservation.
Niran Singh, owner of Shereno Printers, was recognized for his significant contributions to the project, which required extensive manual effort. The compact Hanuman Chalisa booklets are designed to easily fit into purses or wallets, with text large enough for comfortable reading despite their small size, according to Sigaban.
