“Let me just tell y’all something about white men,” Leslie Jones told white man Jesse David Fox on the Good Ones podcast. “Y’all are entitled and you’re assholes. You’re entitled assholes. You think that you’re supposed to be given everything, and you’re not.”
Jones’s irritation was specifically directed at a white man from her tenure at Saturday Night Live. Fox brought up the unnamed fella (we’ll get to his probable name in a second) based on a rant Jones delivered earlier this year on the Toure podcast. Back then, she was talking about a series of sketches in which she and Kyle Mooney played unlikely lovers. She didn’t throw any shade at Mooney, but she’s still angry at the SNL behind-the-scenes talent who directed them.
“The guy who would direct those was a fucking asshole,” she said. “And I don’t give a fuck if you see this. You still are, probably, a fucking dickhead. A fucking narcissistic dickhead. He just one of the white boys who thought he’s doing Shakespeare. No, this is a fucking sketch, and you’re not funny, and you’re not creating nothing beautiful. You’re just being an asshole with this tedious fucking shit.”
Don’t Miss
The man behind those pre-taped sketches with Jones and Mooney? Credits indicate it was Dave McCary, the SNL writer and director famous for marrying Five Timer Emma Stone. Jones never identifies McCary by name, but it’s a fair bet that’s who she’s talking about.
Somehow, even though neither Jones nor the director is currently employed by the show, he’s still finding a way to enrage her. Jones was recruited to perform pre-show interviews for SNL50 (hilariously, she kept calling Pedro Pascal ‘Pablo’), and sure enough, there was “the director” in her life once again.
“He comes over to me, and he know I don’t like him,” she told Fox.
The director sounds like he was trying to make peace with the SNL star — “Oh Leslie, that’s just what happened” — but Jones wasn’t having it.
“Shut up,” she said. “You was a fucking asshole.”
Another mischievous Five Timer was nearby and decided to have some fun with the uncomfortable situation. “Paul Rudd sees that I don’t like him,” Jones said. “So Paul is like, ‘Oh, I’m enjoying this,’ because the guy goes, ‘I want to take a picture with you.’”
The request didn’t go over well with Jones. “I’m not taking a fucking picture with you! You’re a piece of shit. I’m not gonna take a picture with you.”
Rudd egged them on, pleading “Leslieeee …” and holding up a phone with an evil grin that said he knew the pain he was inflicting. “And he takes the picture!” Jones said. “I wanted to kill him.”
As for the quasi-anonymous director? “I just (said) ‘Get your fucking hand off me,’” Jones said.
