While fans have been eagerly waiting for more information about the upcoming film, Ramayana’s progress, Yash, who plays Ravana in the film, has finally shared some crucial updates. Speaking at CinemaCon 2026, he opened up about the film’s status and its highly anticipated release window.

One of the biggest talking points among fans has been the visual scale of the film. Addressing the ongoing discussions and criticisms about the film’s visual effects, Yash assured the audience that the team is striving for excellence. He clarified that what people have seen or heard so far is not the final version.

Speaking to a Hollywood news portal, Yash said, “The photorealistic (scenes) that you are talking about is still work in progress. I’m sure it will be even better with the finish product. We are aiming at a product that is top-notch.

While the makers had previously indicated a Diwali release, the exact date is yet to be confirmed. During his interaction at CinemaCon, Yash hinted that the film might arrive slightly earlier than expected. While Diwali 2026 falls in the first week of November, Yash suggested that Ramayana: Part 1 is eyeing a late-October window.

Yash revealed, “Ramayana we are planning this year, on Diwali, which is October last week.” This potential shift could be a strategic move to give the film a solo run and avoid a heavy box office clash. A late October release would help the film steer clear of the monster flick Godzilla Minus Zero and the children’s movie The Cat in the Hat, both of which are scheduled for November 6. Since both Ramayana and Godzilla are looking to secure IMAX screens, a separate release would benefit both films.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and backed by producer Namit Malhotra, Ramayana is being hailed as one of India’s most ambitious cinematic projects. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Ravie Dubey, Sunny Deol and Yash in key roles.
