Inter pick up another three points
Inter Milan delivered a commanding second-half performance to secure a 3-0 win over Cagliari at San Siro, taking another major step towards the Serie A title.
Despite entering as clear favourites, Inter were frustrated before the break. Cagliari started brightly and caused early problems on the counter, while Inter struggled to involve their forwards.
The best chances fell to the hosts, with efforts from Federico Dimarco and Denzel Dumfries going close, but the visitors held on to keep the score level at half-time.
The game shifted quickly after the restart. Marcus Thuram opened the scoring in the 52nd minute, tapping in at the back post from Dimarco’s delivery. Just four minutes later, Nicolo Barella doubled the lead against his former club, driving a powerful strike into the top corner from the edge of the box.
Deep into stoppage time, substitute Piotr Zielinski added a third with a stunning first-time strike into the top corner, capping a comfortable win in the end.
Como slip up in race for Europe
Sassuolo held on to secure a 2-1 win over Como to damage their Champions League hopes in a lively contest that saw all three goals arrive late in the first half.
After a relatively even opening, Sassuolo struck first through Cristian Volpato, who fired home from distance in the 42nd minute. Just two minutes later, M’Bala Nzola doubled the lead, finishing a quick counter-attack after being played through by Armand Lauriente.
Como responded before the break, with Nico Paz heading home to reduce the deficit and keep the visitors in the contest.
The second half was more fragmented, with frequent fouls and stoppages disrupting the rhythm. Como pushed for an equaliser and came closest in stoppage time, but Jacobo Ramon headed wide from a corner.
