Task Force Busts IPL Betting Racket In Warangal

WARANGAL: The Task Force police have busted an illegal IPL cricket betting racket operating under the Mills Colony Police Station limits in Warangal city and seized Rs 1.02 lakh in cash along with five smartphones used for transactions.

Acting on credible information, the team apprehended one organiser and four persons involved in betting, while three others are absconding.

The operation was led by ACP A. Madhusudhan. Police identified the prime accused as Thadem Bharath, 33, of Madhya Kota, who was allegedly organising the racket. The others arrested were Loudya Venkanna, Pydi Sridhar, Vanga Ramesh and Muluka Srinivas, who were reportedly placing bets through unauthorised online platforms.

Police said another organiser, Ravula Dileep Kumar of Ranga Reddy district, along with two others, is currently absconding.

The accused and seized material were handed over to Mills Colony police for further investigation. Officials said surveillance on online betting activities has been intensified during the ongoing IPL season.
