Former Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas has explained why he ‘isn’t rude’ despite his brothers claims that he has a “reputation” for being impolite with fans.
Ryan Thomas, best known for playing Jason Grimshaw on Coronation Street, has defended himself after complaints from his brother that he’s rude to his fans.
In the most recent episode of At Home with The Thomas Bros, which sees TV star brothers Ryan, Adam, and Scott Thomas team up for a podcast, Adam asked Ryan about his reactions when fans ask for a photo with him.
Adam claimed: “You have got a reputation for being quite rude when people ask for pictures.” Ryan then spoke about a specific incident: “There was like two or three people asking for photos. I’m not terrible actually, I’m the same as you. I’m good with people. But it’s like this girl or guy…”
The former Coronation Street star was then cut off by Adam, who said with a mischievous laugh : “It was an old lady.”
Ryan chastised his brother for “throwing him under the bus” and added: “I’m not actually rude though.”
Laughing, Scott then asked listeners to call in if they had ever had a bad experience with asking Ryan for a photo.
Ryan then explained himself, saying: “She was there, she was taking pictures and we both leant in and we did a picture while she was taking the pictures without even asking. Then you decided to say, ‘come on, do you want to have a photo over here?'”
Adam claimed that the woman wanted more images as she was “struggling with her phone” and Adam “rolled his eyes” and was reluctant when he realised he had to take more snaps.
“You make me feel like I’m not nice to people!” Ryan exclaimed while on the couch. “Don’t try all that ‘old lady wants a picture!”
Jumping in to defend Ryan, Scott added that Ryan was part of the “old school celebrity” and used to get “pestered all the time”.
Replying in the comments, many fans revealed they had interacted with a rather grumpy Ryan when asking for a photo. However, many listeners also revealed that they had had nothing but lovely experiences with the star.
This episode has been released just as Scott leaped to defend his brother Adam, after comments from David Haye in the I’m A Celebrity Jungle “broke” him.
Adam- who has arthritis – posted a long message last night about his experience on the reality TV show that included the passage: “He broke me in there, he pushed me to my limits, and I’ve told David this and he’s apologised and that’s that! I’ve moved on now, am not one to hold a grudge.”
Scott replied: “I wish I could have been there for you my brother…it makes me so angry that you went through that…but I’m so proud of how you’ve come out of the other side of all this…the strongest you’ve ever been and on an incredible journey…standing in your power.”
This came after controversy around Friday night’s episode which saw David target Adam after he refused to accept that the former soap actor wasn’t feeling up to taking part in the Termite Terror trial.
When Adam said it would be hard to get through it because of dehydration, David raged: “Dehydrated?! We’ve all got the same amount of water! Adam is doing it and that’s it!”
He added: “When is your top form gonna come? Why aren’t we forcing this dude to go and do it? Coincidentally, every time there’s something to do, he’s not feeling well!”
