حذرت منظمة الأغذية والزراعة التابعة للأمم المتحدة (الفاو)، من أن النزاع الدائر في منطقة الشرق الأوسط خلال عام 2026 يفرض ضغوطًا إضافية على النظم الزراعية والغذائية الهشة وسلاسل الإمداد العالمية، ما يهدد توافر الغذاء وإمكانية الوصول إليه والقدرة على تحمل تكاليفه.
وشدد المدير العام المنظمة شو دونيو في الكلمة الافتتاحية للدورة 38 لمؤتمر منظمة الأغذية والزراعة الإقليمي للشرق الأدنى في روما، على ضرورة إدراك الأهمية القصوى للحفاظ على التدفقات التجارية، وضمان حصول الجميع على غذاءٍ كافٍ، لا سيما في البلدان التي تعتمد على الاستيراد.

ونبه دونيو إلى أن الاضطرابات الكبيرة التي تشهدها حاليًا نظم إنتاج الغذاء وتجارته وتوزيعه في جميع أنحاء المنطقة قد تفاقمت بفعل تداعيات عالمية، بما في ذلك ارتفاع أسعار الطاقة والاضطرابات في أسواق الأسمدة، ما يؤدي إلى زيادة تكاليف الإنتاج، ويؤثر سلبًا على الإنتاجية الزراعية، سواء داخل المنطقة أو خارجها.
