One of the most anticipated sequels in recent times, Awarapan 2 finally has its release date locked. Vishesh Films has confirmed that the film will arrive in cinemas worldwide on 14th August 2026, bringing back the emotional world of the original while reuniting filmmaker Vishesh Bhatt and actor Emraan Hashmi.
An action drama rooted in themes of love, death and redemption, the film promises to carry forward the intensity fans remember. Adding to the excitement, Vishesh Bhatt, Emraan Hashmi and Disha Patani recently shared a symbolic glimpse from the film on social media, giving audiences a feel of its mood while locking in the date.
Talking about the decision to revisit the story, Vishesh Bhatt said, “Awarapan is an emotion so large that it’s meant for the big screen. It also presents exotic settings and large scale sequences but fundamentally it’s built on our core principles of layered storytelling with powerful characters and rich music. Emraan felt the angst of Shivam so deeply that he stepped into character in a heartbeat. And with Disha Patani joining us, the world of the film opened up to new possibilities.”
The original Awarapan, released in 2007, quietly grew into a cult favourite over the years. Led by Emraan Hashmi, the film stood out for its raw emotional depth, haunting music and the character of Shivam, which continues to resonate strongly with audiences even today.
The film also marks Disha Patani’s first collaboration with Vishesh Films, adding a fresh dimension to the narrative. Known for films like Malang, Baaghi 2, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story and Kalki 2898-AD, she steps into a new space with this project. Directed by Nitin Kakkar and written by Bilal Siddiqui, Awarapan 2 is currently in its final leg of production in Mumbai, gearing up for its big screen release.
