A 12-year-old girl drowned after her hair got stuck in a pool suction pump, trapping her underwater for more than five minutes.
Young Laura Pereira Camargo was swimming with her friends in a pool in Mirassol, Sao Paolo, Brazil Friday when her hair became tangled in the pump, keeping her from coming up for air, according to the Sun.
When she was finally freed, she was rushed to a local hospital in Sao Jose do Rio Preto in critical condition.
Despite doctors’ best efforts, Laura died two days later from multiple organ failure and complications, including bacterial pneumonia, according to the Sun.
Her funeral was scheduled for Tuesday.
The horrific incident comes just days after a 12-year-old boy died in a freak accident while on a family vacation in Italy after he was sucked into a hot tub filter.
Matteo Brandimarti was playing in a jacuzzi at the upscale Duca di Montefeltro Hotel in Pennabilli on Easter Sunday morning when his leg got dragged into a filter of the tub, trapping him for several minutes.
Hotel staffers shut off the main power supply to the jacuzzi and immediately attempted life-saving measures.

He later died at the hospital.
