The Gladiators favourite confessed that he was ‘faced with a choice that didn’t align with my values’ as he revealed he’s not coming back to the hit show
Popular Gladiators star Giant has shocked fans by revealing that he has quit the popular TV show – and won’t be back for season 4.
In an emotional statement on his Instagram in which he went some way to explaining the reasons behind his shock decision, he wrote, “To my Gladiator family. I want to tell you all that I won’t be coming back for season 4 of the TV show. Being a Gladiator has been one of the greatest honours of my life.:
He added, “Stepping into that arena, hearing the crowd, representing strength, resilience and being a role model… that’s something I’ll carry with me forever.
“What I do want to make clear is this wasn’t a decision I made to step away. I was faced with a choice that didn’t align with my values. And if you know me, you know this… I stand by my people and I stand by what I believe in. “That’s what being a role model means to me. I’m proud of everything I gave to the show and grateful for every single person who supported me along the way. This isn’t the end. It’s just the beginning. Stay strong. Stand tall.”
Fans instantly flooded the comments section on his unexpected Instagram post, with one saying, “That’s absolutely gutting. I am baffled, as i am unsure of the reasons. But good luck to you sir, you are a role model to kids and adults alike.”
Another disappointed fan penned, “Man has balls to dream and balls to change and evolve”, while another wrote, “So much respect to you for what I know must have been an insanely difficult decision.”
The Giant, aka Jamie Bigg, 40, a bodybuilder and sometime fitness coach from Ilkeston, Derbyshire, first appeared on Gladiators in 2024. He is thought to have earned his stage name due to him being one of the tallest professional bodybuilders.
Standing at 6 feet 5 inches tall, with 52cm biceps and weighing over 20 stone, the pumped star previously said he has to eat around 10,000 calories every day to maintain his muscle-packed physique.
On Gladiators, his strongest event was Duel – but his stint on the rebooted BBC One show, hosted by father and son team Bradley and Barney Walsh., wasn’t without its controversies.
During his time on the show, he was criticised for previously promoting the use of anabolic steroids, despite their being Class C drugs – but Bigg responded by saying he had stopped using them himself in 2022, and was no longer advocating others using them.
Bigg had been married to Katie Christian, with whom he shares two children, since 2014, but revealed in December 2025 that the pair were divorcing, in January confessing he wanted to ‘reclaim his identity’ after his painful divorce, and a diagnosis of ADHD.
At the time, Katie said on social media, “Next year I am dating the S*** out of myself.”
