A childcare worker has been charged with assault after he allegedly slapped two children at his care at a centre in Sydney’s west this week.

Police arrested the 25-year-old man on Saturday, following reports that he slapped two boys aged three and four with an open hand at a Panania childcare centre about 1pm on Thursday.

The officers took him to Bankstown police station and charged him with two counts of common assault.

He is due to appear in the bail court later on Sunday.
