Savannah Guthrie’s Mother, Nancy Is Kidnapped By Solo Suspect, Ex-FBI Agent Claims, ‘It’s Hard To..’

It’s been nearly three months that Savannah Guthrie’s 84-year-old mother has been missing. Nancy was last seen on January 31, 2026, and later a CCTV footage suggested that she had been kidnapped by a masked man. The next minute an official investigation began; however, there is no sign of her return. Amid that, an ex-FBI agent has claimed that Nancy might have been kidnapped by only one person and not multiple.

How many people are involved in Nancy Guthrie’s kidnapping?

Recently, retired FBI agent named Steve Moore had a conversation with Brian Entin on NewsNation, during which he shared insights about Nancy Guthrie’s sudden kidnapping. When asked about how many people might have been involved in the kidnapping, Steve shared that statistically it would have been more than one; however, he believes it might be just one person involved. Steve Moore was quoted as saying:

“Some people very, very rightly say that it’s hard to imagine a single person doing this. But at the same time, you can’t put your weight down on the ice. I think both are possible. I think it’s more likely statistically that it was two people. But when you go back and you look at a lot of the famous kidnapping cases in history, occasionally they are and frequently they are sole individuals.”

It is worth mentioning that a few days ago, another FBI agent, Jim Clemente shared a different perspective. He explained that if there would have been more than one person then Nancy would not have lost any control; however, according to the CCTV footage, she was on the ground coughing. Further, Jim also highlighted the fact that there was no evidence that could prove that there were more than one kidnapper. He explained, “If there was three different shoe print patterns in the blood stains… that would tell me something.”

During a recent conversation with NewsNation, Jim Clemente again had a chat with Elizabeth Vargas, during which Jim was asked the probable reason behind Nancy’s kidnapping. To answer the same, he explained that the reason behind it might be Savannah and her popularity because of the Today show. Jim stated that there are chances that the kidnapper might be obsessed with her and to hurt the anchor, he tried harming her mother. In his words:

“It could also have been just a delusion in his own mind and he could have built up an anger and resentment against her. And as a result, he felt justified in taking the mother to hurt her. I think that’s the highest probability.”

Savannah Guthrie is one of the most popular anchors. For the unversed, she is best-known as the anchor of the Today show. In recent times, she has been grabbing attention due to her mother’s disappearance. However, in her personal life, Savannah is married to Michael Feldman and the couple has two children. A few weeks ago, Savannah gave her first interview amid Nancy’s disappearance, during which she revealed that it was her sister, who informed the anchor about the kidnapping.

On the other hand, Nancy Guthrie is Savannah’s mother. If reports are to be believed, Nancy has been a resident of Tucson, Arizona since a very long time. After her husband, Charles passed away, she started working in the University of Arizona’s public relations department. Before her retirement, she reportedly worked for nearly 17 years. In her personal life, she raised three children alone.
