TV personality and dad-of-12 Nick Cannon has revealed the double standards he has when it comes to parenting his teen twins he shares with Mariah Carey
Nick Cannon has confessed to having double standards when it comes to raising his 15-year-old twins. The TV presenter, 45, shares the teens with Mariah Carey and co-parents them.
But he admits that he treats his son very different to his daughter. The dad-of-12, celebrated the duo’s birthdays last month and he confirmed his eldest kids have very different rules due to their gender.
Nick and Mariah, who were married in 2008 and divorced in 2016, share son Moroccan and daughter Monroe. And Nick revealed that his teen son is dating – and has been encourage by him to do so. However, it’s a different thought entirely for the star when it comes to his daughter.

Speaking on the TMZ podcast on Saturday, Nick was asked about his kids and if they were allowed to date now they’re 15. He told Towanda Robinson: “My son been dating and I’ve allowed it.”
But when asked about if the same was said about his daughter, he confessed: “No, absolutely not.” He went on to reveal he knows this is “absolutely a double standard”.
Nick added that there is a clear difference from being a boy dad to parenting a daughter. He said: “I am more protective of my daughter because there’s things out there that I have to protect my daughter from.
“Like, as we know, there’s certain types of individuals that you want to keep your daughter away from. My son, it’s a different conversation when he’s going out into the dating world.”
And he admits his worst nightmare would be someone disrespecting his daughter. He continued: “But if somebody puts their hands on my daughter, I’m going to jail… I’m doing 25 to life if somebody put their hands on my daughter.”
Revealing the “deal” he has made wth Monroe when it comes to dating, Nick revealed: “If she can explain to me what’s going to happen on these dates, then she can go.” He then joked her twin brother would tag along with her as she wouldn’t be allowed to go one-one-one.
As the twins turned 15, Nick joined them in their celebrations. The trio went to Six Flags and the TV personality shared their trip on his social media.
Along with pictures of their day out, Nick wrote: “‘Got two 15 year olds on my hands now!!!! Happy Birthday to my first firstborns! I thank God and you for allowing me to be your Dad! I love you Roc and Roe! Happy Birthday!”
As well as the pair, Nick is dad to 10 other kids to seven other women. He shares Legendary Love with Selling Sunset’s Bre Tiesi, twins Zion Mixolydian and Zillion Heir and Beautiful Zeppelin, with Abby De La Rosa, and Golden Sagon, Rise Messiah and Powerful Queen with Brittany Bell.
Nick also has daughter Onyx Ice with LaNisha Cole and Halo Marie with Alyssa Scott. Tragically, Zen, Nick’s son with Alyssa, passed away in December 2021 at only five months old.
