In the graphic, Vrabel and Russini depicted prominent Boston fans. The two were seen in the front of a boat recreating the iconic scene from Titanic. The graphic soon went viral and caught people’s attention. Since Inside the NBA is part of ESPN, the network’s recent gesture garnered the spotlight, as it had previously avoided commenting on the controversy.
Dianna Russini and Mike Vrabel’s controversy explained
A few days back, Page Six shared exclusive pictures of New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel and New York Times NFL reporter Dianna Russini. In the pictures, Dianna and Mike were seen spending time together at a hotel in Arizona. The images, reportedly taken on March 28, 2026, showed Dianna and Mike holding hands and hugging on a private rooftop bungalow during the evening.

After the pictures of Mike and Dianna from their cosy outing in an Arizona hotel surfaced and made a lot of noise, another set of pictures is up in the headlines. Page Six recently released a few more pictures of the duo from 2020, allegedly taken from a bar in New York. In the pictures, Mike and Dianna are sitting closely, and in one snap, the head coach is seen kissing the NFL reporter.

Mike Vrabel seeks counselling amid Dianna Russini’s photo scandal
According to the latest reports, Mike Vrabel is seeking counselling following the recent scandal. The New England Patriots head coach recently told ESPN that he will not be with the team on Day 3 of the NFL Draft. Seeking counselling as an excuse for his absence, Vrabel said:
“As I said the other day, I promised my family, this organisation, and this team that I was going to give them the best version of me that I can possibly give them. In order to do so, I have committed to seeking counselling, starting this weekend. This is something that I have given a lot of thought to and is something I would advise a player to do if I was counselling them.”
For the unversed, Dianna Russini had previously worked at ESPN before joining The Athletic in 2023.
