Amy Robbins joined Coronation Street back in 2023 as Christina Boyd but away from the cobbles who is she loved-up?

Amy Robbins has become a firm favourite on Coronation Street playing Christina Boyd – and it turns out she has a rather famous husband.

Actress Amy joined the ITV soap in 2023 as Christina, the mother of Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan). Since then, Christina has become a regular and has been involved in several big storylines, too.

From her devious catfishing scheme to finding love with undertaker George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley), her time in Weatherfield has not been short of drama.

Especially at the moment, as it was recently confirmed that Christina is one of the six characters suspected of killing evil Theo Silverton (James Cartwright).

The abuser was murdered last week after his reign of terror over Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) was exposed. And in Wednesday’s episode (May 6), Christina was taken in for questioning at the police station about Theo’s death.

Away from the soap, though, the actress is loved-up with her husband and fellow actor Robert Daws, whose career spans almost 50 years. Robert has appeared in Death in Paradise and Holby City, and he played Tuppy Glossop in ITV’s comedy Jeeves and Wooster from 1990 to 1993.

Robert also appeared on Coronation Street in 2010 playing Tom Hughes. As for Amy and Robert, the pair started dating while working on ITV medical drama The Royal, in which Amy played Dr Jill Weatherill, and Robert played her on-screen husband, Dr Gordon.

Talking about their romance, Amy told The Mirror in 2007: “We were friends for a long time. But I just knew I wanted to be with him. We are like two sides of the same person and have a similar outlook on life. We are both big family people and put our families first. People even say that we look alike.”

Amy and Robert also share two daughters, Elizabeth and May. However, according to Amy, her first experience of childbirth was traumatic. She added to the publication: “It was a nightmare. I remember going into the labour ward and thinking I’d gone into hell and all these women were being tortured.

“I had to have an emergency caesarean after being induced. And because of complications, I had to have a lot of surgery afterwards to sort everything out. It was very frightening and exceptionally painful.”

Meanwhile, Robert has also previously reflected on his romance with Amy. He told OK! in 2008: “We joined [the Royals] at the same time and met each other on the first read-through. We sat next to each other and, apparently, I totally ignored Amy and spent my whole time talking to an actress on my left!

“I think it was six months before we became seriously involved, and then we were married within the year! It was quite an interesting year – a new job, a marriage, and a baby at the end of it.”
