Bengaluru: Suspended Senior IPS Officer Suspension Revoked, Reinstated As DGP

BENGALURU: The State Government on Wednesday revoked the suspension of the then Director General of Police, Directorate of Civil Rights Enforcement Dr K. Ramachandra Rao and posted him as Director General of Police (Police Manual) with immediate effect.

However, the revocation order stated the disciplinary proceedings had been initiated on March 18, 2026 under rule 8(4) of All India Service (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969. An inquiry continues against the senior IPS officer.

It may be recalled here that Dr K. Ramachandra Rao was placed under suspension following some of the video clips circulated in public domain wherein Ramachandra Rao was reportedly seen romancing with women in uniform and at his chamber. Over the leaked videos of Rao, the State Government placed him under suspension.

The post of Director General of Police (Police Manual) is declared equivalent in status and responsibilities to the cadre post of Director General of Police, Criminal Investigation Department, Special Units and Economic Offences, Bengaluru.

The revocation order stated the State Government exercising its powers conferred under the Rule-3 (7) © of All India Service (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969 revoked the suspension and reinstated Dr K. Ramachandra Rao into the service with immediate effect.
