Woman Sexually Assaulted at Haritha Hotel in Vontimitta Missing

KADAPA: The woman who had allegedly been sexually assaulted by two men at the Haritha Hotel in Vontimitta of Kadapa district on May 3 remains untraceable, even as police have intensified efforts to locate her.

Police have taken into custody an auto driver who is one of two who assaulted the woman. The auto driver had later abandoned the victim at the Ontimitta Railway Station.

The other accused, said to be a journalist, is currently undergoing treatment at RIMS Hospital after sustaining injuries.

Notably, no formal complaint has been filed so far on behalf of the victim.

Investigators are trying to ascertain whether the woman boarded a train from the station or left through other means. Officials said that tracing the victim is crucial, as her statement would be a key to further legal action in the case.

The incident has triggered serious concern among higher authorities, as the alleged crime took place in the government-run Haritha Hotel managed by the AP Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC). Officials have ordered an immediate report from the hotel staff regarding the incident.

Kadapa APTDC divisional manager T. Mallikarjuna Goud said that strict measures will be implemented to prevent such incidents across the district. Room No. 101, where the alleged assault took place, is being thoroughly examined as part of the investigation.

Mallikarjuna Goud said a detailed report would be submitted to the AP Tourism Development Corporation general manager based on the findings of the inquiry.

The case has drawn state-wide attention, with senior officials from Amaravati also seeking updates.
