A man has been charged with stealing camera equipment from retired police officer and photographer Peter Meagher after he was killed in the Bondi Beach attack in Australia last year.

Police say that in the aftermath of the Dec. 14 massacre, detectives noticed Meagher’s camera equipment had been stolen.

Officers searched a Marayong home on Wednesday, where they arrested a 35-year-old man who police say was also a photographer at the Hanukah event.

Police allege the man, Danny Ridley, stole Meagher’s camera equipment before pawning it days later.

During their search of the home, police found a camera, handcuffs and a number of electronic devices.

Officers allegedly also found a small amount of “white crystal powder” inside a car.

The man was taken to Riverstone Police Station, where he was charged with larceny of an item worth more than $2000, disposing of stolen property, producing false information to a licensee, possessing a prohibited weapon without a permit, and supplying and possessing prohibited drugs.

The man will appear before Blacktown Local Court on June 22.

Meagher was one of 15 innocents killed when two gunmen allegedly opened fire on a crowd of Jewish people gathered for a Hanukah celebration.

A celebrated member of the local rugby community, Meagher — known as “Marzo” by those close to him — spent nearly a decade managing Randwick Rugby Club’s team following his near forty-year career in the New South Wales Police Force.

Meagher is survived by his wife Virginia and his brothers Greg, David, Andrew and Paul.

On April 14, Randwick memorialized Meagher in a “Marzo Memorial Round” against Eastern Suburbs rugby club.
