‘The Mandalorian And Grogu’ Ending Explained, How Will Mando, Grogu’s Final Twist Change Star Wars?

The long-awaited film, The Mandalorian and Grogu, has finally arrived on the big screens. In turn, it has brought ‘Din Djarin’ and ‘Grogu’ back for another emotional and adventure ride. The film also marks the first theatrical release of Star Wars in several years. It continues the events of the Disney+ series and revolves around a dangerous rescue mission for ‘Rotta the Hutt’, the son of ‘Jabba the Hutt’. However, the film’s ending has become its highlight and a new topic of discussion on social media.

The Mandalorian and Grogu’s ending takes place on Nal Hutta after ‘Din Djarin,’ also known as ‘Mando,’ is cheated by the ‘Hutt Twins’. As per the storyline, the twins secretly manipulate both the New Republic and criminal groups as they seek greater power. During the same time, ‘Mando’ is captured and thrown into a terrifying Dragonsnake pit, where he is badly injured and poisoned. However, the story takes an emotional turn when ‘Grogu’ becomes the protector rather than the one who needs rescuing. 

On the other hand, ‘Mando’ is struggling to survive. So, ‘Grogu’ works with the local allies to get an antidote to save his adoptive father. The moment showed the film’s emotional theme: “the old protect the young, and eventually the young protect the old.” After recovering, ‘Mando’ and ‘Grogu’ start a final attack on the Hutt palace to find ‘Rotta’. During the same time, ‘Rotta’ betrays his family and fights with the Hutt Twins. 

Eventually, the conflict causes the twins to fall into the Dragonsnake’s pit. In turn, they get killed by their monster. At the same time, ‘Grogu’ uses force to save ‘Rotta’ before he falls into it. Some fans were surprised to see that the movie was more about ‘Mando’ and ‘Grogu’ than the larger Star Wars context.

The film starts when ‘Mando’ and ‘Grogu’ are given a mission by the New Republic. They have to rescue ‘Rotta’ and ‘Hutt’. In fact, Colonel Ward promises that he will give them details about the Imperial warlord in exchange for saving ‘Rotta’. ‘Mando’ soon tracks ‘Rotta’ at a gladiator area run by a dangerous crime boss. Initially, ‘Rotta’ refused to return because he had become popular there. But later, ‘Mando’ finds that the next match is secretly planned to kill him. In turn, the duo escapes and goes to Nal Hutta. They initially thought that the Hutt Twins would protect ‘Rotta’. However, the twins betray them. They also try to take control of the Hutt Empire. The film then focuses on survival.

What future does The Mandalorian and Grogu suggest? 

The Mandalorian and Grogu’s ending does not connect to the larger Thrawn storyline. Many fans thought that the film would directly set up future crossover projects. But instead, it chose a personal ending. After the battle, ‘Rotta’ decided not to continue ‘Jabb’, the criminal boss’s legacy. Instead, he stays in the New Republic to establish peace. On the other hand, ‘Mando’ and ‘Grogu’ leave for abroad. Overall, it ends on a calm note, with no major tease of a future or post-credit scene showing a new villain.
