Hyderabad: Senior BRS leader T. Harish Rao on Friday said the Congress government’s alleged plan to throttle power supply to farmers was laid bare by Telangana Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Commission chairman M. Kodanda Reddy, who told the Electricity Regulatory Commission that farmers needed only three hours of supply.
In a statement, Harish Rao said Kodanda Reddy’s comment reflected what Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had said during a visit to the USA some time ago.
“Is this an admission by the government that it plans to cut the 24‑hour power supply to farmers and restrict it to just three hours a day? The BRS government had introduced round‑the‑clock supply for agriculture connections as farmers needed it. Now the Congress government, which has virtually buried the Rythu Bandhu scheme, failed to give the promised bonus for all crops and fallen short in fertiliser supply, appears intent on curtailing farm power,” Harish Rao said.
He added that the people would soon teach the Congress party a strong lesson.
