Selections based on a heavy track

Race 1

7. Flirtation is a Snitzel filly that won a trial before making her debut at this track just over two weeks ago and running well when finishing second. She should have derived benefit from that hit-out and she gets her chance to break through with a victory in this. 9. Little Miss Sass is a filly having her first start on the back of two trials and she wasn’t beaten far in the latest of them. She bears close watching. 11. Supido Star is a last start Quirindi placegetter that can be thereabouts again with a repeat. 5. Bees Knees is also on debut and comes here after finishing third in a Muswellbrook trial.
How to play it: Flirtation WIN.

2. Terrawatt is on debut in this and has had a solid grounding with a number of barrier trials. The son of Nicconi ran fifth in the latest of them on the Beaumont track at Newcastle and looks set to run well here with Aaron Bullock in the saddle. 3. The Breakers was having his first start when finishing second at Newcastle and another forward showing is on the cards. 9. Kursaal has had two trials in preparation for her first start and she won her latest at Warwick Farm. Expect her to run well. 10. Sambuca Sky ran third on debut at this track in January and has won two trials leading into this resuming run.
How to play it: Terrawatt EACH WAY.

Race 3

12. Moana Gold was placed in three straight starts either side of a spell before finishing sixth and fourth at her latest two starts at Wyong with the latest being behind Flying Grey. She only needs to run up to that to be hard to hold out here. 2. Orange Tsunami resumes after two trials and showed enough in three starts in his initial campaign to be rated a chance in this. 5. Seditio makes his debut after two trials and is worth including among the main chances. 8. Twice Az Cool was placed in two on end before not being beaten far when seventh at this track last time out.
How to play it: Moana Gold WIN.

Race 4

1. Aussie Nation has been racing well with four second placings either side of a Gosford victory three starts ago. He has a good draw with Bullock to ride and can win again. 7. Prince Is Game won with ease at Taree when last produced and can figure prominently with a repeat of that. 8. Spacetime Legend hit the line well for a last start Newcastle win and should figure again. 2. Scottish Pearl ran well when a last start fourth at Hawkesbury and has place claims.
How to play it: Aussie Nation WIN.

Race 5

2. Hulu was a Tamworth winner three starts ago and comes into this on the back of a last start third behind Shotgun Bella at this track. That form looks strong. 5. Hellcibell hasn’t been far away despite being unplaced in three runs back from a spell and is worth plenty of thought. 6. King Larry has been placed in his latest two starts and can be thereabouts again. 10. Eighty Eight Stars ran well enough at Gunnedah last time out to be rated a place chance in this.
How to play it: Hulu WIN.

Race 6

2. Athena’s Treasure has been racing well with a couple of second placings at Newcastle and Muswellbrook before being close-up when sixth in the Northern Wild Card for the Country Championships at this track in March. She is fresh for this and should be charging home late. 6. It Stays In Vegas was a Gunnedah winner before being spelled and resumes in this after finishing third in a recent Muswellbrook trial. 10. Capsity is first-up after two trials and has shown plenty of ability in a six start career with two wins and as many placings. 4. Crook has a good record with four wins from eight starts and resumes from a spell here having won at Orange and Bathurst at the back end of last year. She is worth including among the chances.
How to play it: Athena’s Treasure WIN.

Race 7

9. Parfumier pushed forward at Taree when last produced and fought on well to hold on to score a dead heat victory. That was an improvement on her previous form, but she has always shown her share of ability, and this looks well within her reach as well. 1. Whateley hasn’t been too far away of late, with a couple of eighths in Highway grade and a last start fourth at Newcastle. He ran second at Mudgee four starts ago and he can get into the money here on his best form. 2. Pontevedra was resuming from a spell when down the track here a couple of weeks ago but can be expected to improve sharply. He won two in a row at Muswellbrook in October and November of last year and is a leading contender here on the strength of that form. 4. Smart Buy beat Pontevedra home when they last clashed at this track and she can run a bold race against these.
How to play it: Parfumier EACH WAY.
