Amir Khan is facing court after denying making a secret sex tape and claims of blackmail. The boxing champion is accused in High Court documents, alongside his wife Faryal Makhdoom, of making threats, and the couple have launched a libel lawsuit against solicitor Faryaal Hussain after she made the claims on a podcast in 2023.
Amir and his wife, Faryal, are seeking up to £100,000 in damages and outright deny the allegations – calling them false, malicious and unproven.
The 39-year-old former world champion is also accused of sending unsolicited nude photos of himself to various women. Allegedly, he chose social media as his preferred way of sending messages to women. In one case, he is alleged to have recorded a woman during an intimate sexual act. She claims she then received an “aggressive” call from Khan, according to Ms Hussain’s High Court claims.
Amir allegedly told the woman in question that if the public found out what had happened, it “would jeopardise his hit ITV reality show Meet the Khans”, the documents allege.
Hussain’s 21-page defence document, which was filed at the High Court in May, sets out a number of detailed claims laid out against the boxing pro and his wife.
According to The Sun, another woman was allegedly promised a sum of £20,000 by Khan after he began talking to her in 2023. He is said to have sent “frequent late-night messages containing sexualised compliments and intrusive questions” regarding her body.
The documents claim his 33-year-old wife, Faryal, also made threats. Khan and Faryal will likely be asked to take the stand if the case proceeds to trial.
The barrister acting for Ms Hussain, David Lemer, said: “The defendant acted out of a genuine concern for public safety, did not seek to profit from the publication and has not profited from it.
“She considers the matters identified and the claimants’ conduct towards the women were of the utmost public importance.”
As yet, the High Court has not set a trial date for the case. Khan, who won silver at the 2004 Olympics, retired from boxing in 2022. He’s since appeared on a string of TV shows, including I’m A Celebrity, Celebrity Juice, Countdown and Who Wants To Be a Millionaire?
He and Faryal married in 2013, but split in 2017 before rekindling their relationship that same year.
Amir Khan’s representatives have declined to comment.
