Charles Barkley didn’t hold back with his criticism of Victor Wembanyama during halftime of Game 2 of the NBA Finals on Friday night in San Antonio.
“Wemby’s in shock right now,” Barkley, the Hall of Famer and “Inside the NBA” analyst, said. “It’s probably been a long time since he got his ass kicked like this. … But right now, big KAT is taking his ass to the woodshed.”
Barkley said Wembanyama looked flustered during the first half and was throwing the ball all over the place.
He finished the half with seven points on 2-for-4 shooting with five rebounds across 18 minutes in the opening half. Though he also blocked two shots, he was outplayed by Karl-Anthony Towns — who poured in 17 points to lead the Knicks.
Towns helped the Knicks overcome a double-digit deficit and take a four-point advantage into the third quarter, leading 56-52.
De’Aaron Fox led the Spurs with 12 points.
