Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference takes place today and is expected to bring some big changes and announcements to the tech world. A particular announcement expected is of the upgraded Siri from Apple for its iOS.
With reports suggesting that Siri will no longer just be a voice assistant but utilise AI features to act more like an AI model, conducting and controlling apps on Apple’s devices for the user. Siri is also eager to let its AI model partake in and complete complex tasks to be more user-friendly. It is expected to use context and personal info on the device to respond and perform actions, perhaps acting on par with ChatGPT and other AI models.
With multiple design changes also in reports, a major change is to be expected from the “Search or Ask” interface, available when you swipe down from the centre on top of the screen. The feature is expected to include Siri Suggestions, frequently used apps, and contextual updates for the user, including their own data. With changes and upgrades to the camera app, visual intelligence features may also come to fruition, helping with information processing, recognition, and enhancing its already existing abilities. Other changes in the same vein may also include features to generate content beyond visible on the screen and/or to adjust perspectives in spatial photos.
A significant change may come in Siri turning towards the direction of an AI chatbot, being more conversational and giving the users a rather natural feel to the interactions. To accompany this, a standalone app for Siri might also be in the works, the chat layout perhaps resembling a messaging app.
