Anna Kepner’s Murder Case, New Evidence Submitted As Prosecutors Move To Detain Timothy Hudson Again

The trial of Anna Kepner’s stepbrother, Timothy Hudson, is scheduled to start in September 2026. Notably, he has been charged with murder and sexual assault, which is linked to the death of the 16-year-old Anna at the Carnival Horizon in November 2025. Timothy is supposed to face a life sentence if he is found guilty of all the charges. On the other hand, he has pleaded not guilty to the allegations.

The case witnessed a new turn recently when prosecutors revealed in a hearing that the FBI discovered Anna Kepner’s damaged phone inside the ship. The FBI checked the surveillance footage, and the location of the phone matched the places where Timothy was spotted. Timothy had later allegedly tried to destroy the phone. He is currently not in custody and staying with his uncle until the trial starts. Meanwhile, the federal prosecutors have acquired new evidence, on the basis of which Timothy might not be able to remain free before the trial.

Federal prosecutors have submitted the new evidence to the court

According to a new report on June 11, 2026, federal prosecutors have obtained fresh evidence that is expected to influence whether Timothy Hudson should be allowed to remain free before trial. The documents have been submitted to the court on June 8, 2026. The prosecutors claimed that the new documents have information linked to the performance of certain examinations and tests. However, the details of the evidence were not revealed. The latest update on the matter revealed that the court has ordered the evidence to be sealed, and it won’t be opened until further orders from the authorities.

The evidence is associated with the Motion for Review and Revocation of Order of Release Pursuant to the Bail Reform Act. It is an effort to overturn the release of Timothy Hudson and bring him into custody. As of now, the defense team has not had any issues with the sealing of the evidence. But certain reports are claiming that the evidence could be associated with anything, including the forensic testing, digital evidence analysis, or DNA results.

Surveillance footage from Carnival Horizon reveals the events before Anna Kepner’s murder

The complete timeline leading to the death of Anna Kepner was recently revealed by the federal prosecutors. As per some unsealed detention hearing transcripts, the surveillance footage from the ship and digital evidence have managed to reveal everything, starting from the time when Anna Kepner entered her cabin. Anna was reportedly unwell at 7:38 p.m. and went inside her cabin during that period. However, she stayed inside after that, and a few moments later, Timothy Hudson entered.

For the unversed, Anna and Timothy were sharing the same cabin on Carnival Horizon. Timothy was inside the cabin for some time, and after he came outside, he looked at both sides and left. Timothy also refused to allow Anna’s half-brother to come inside, asking him to wait since he was changing. As mentioned, the FBI recovered Anna Kepner’s phone on the ship. It was found in a trash bin. Notably, the surveillance footage revealed that Hudson allegedly went towards the trash bin area after leaving the cabin at 9:50 a.m. He was present at the location for a few seconds.

The ship’s Wi-Fi network logs reportedly revealed that the phone location and Timothy’s movements were the same until the place where the device was found by the FBI. Apart from all these, Anna’s body reportedly had signs related to mechanical asphyxiation. Moreover, forensic testing was able to find male DNA in the vaginal swabs that allegedly has a strong match with Timothy Hudson.
