Elite Cup U15 Sabac: A Tournament Reserved Only for Champions

Eleven national titles still being contested across Europe this summer will decide who joins host VK Sabac Elixir in October.

Sabac, Serbia, will host a brand new kind of U15 international tournament this October, and the entry list reads like nothing else on the continent. From the 22nd to the 25th of October 2026, the Elite Cup will bring together the eleven reigning national champions of the eleven highest-ranked European Aquatics nations, plus host VK Sabac Elixir. Twelve teams, twelve trophies already on their shelves, one new trophy in Sabac waiting to be lifted.

THE CONCEPT

The concept is what makes it unusual. There are no wildcards, no open registration, no friendly invitations. Every participating squad must arrive in Sabac having won a national U14 championship in one of the eleven invited countries. If a national champion declines, the invitation passes to that country’s runner-up. If the runner-up also declines, the spot moves down the European Aquatics ranking to the next available champion. The principle is non-negotiable: a domestic title is the only ticket in.

“Twelve Champions. One Trophy.” is the tournament’s tagline, and it captures exactly what is on offer. For four days in October, the boys born in 2012 who already know what it feels like to win at home will find out what it feels like to play against eleven others who can say the same.

CHAMPIONS

So far, four of the twelve places are accounted for. Hungary’s OSC, Croatia’s Mornar Split, and Montenegro’s Budva BR have already secured their national titles and their invitations to Sabac. Host VK Sabac Elixir takes the twelfth spot automatically, with one important condition: if Sabac wins the Serbian championship later this summer, the host invitation transfers to the Serbian runner-up so the principle holds.

That leaves eight national titles still to be decided, and each one carries an Elite Cup invitation with it. France and Romania crown their champions on the 21st of June. Spain follows on the 28th. Serbia plays its final on the 5th of July. Germany decides in early July, and Greece’s finals are scheduled between the 15th and 18th of the same month. Italy is the last to finish, with the Italian champion not known until the start of September. Eight finals, eight cities, eight celebrations to come, and each one will write another name onto the Sabac guest list.

For coaches, players, and federations across Europe, this summer becomes a story to follow with one eye on the domestic standings and one eye on Sabac. A national title earned in June, July, or September is no longer just a domestic achievement. It is, this year, an automatic invitation to the only U15 tournament on the continent reserved for champions.

Total Waterpolo will follow every one of those championship races throughout the summer and confirm each Elite Cup invitation as it is earned. The Elite Cup is hosted by VK Sabac Elixir in partnership with Total Waterpolo, with further details on format, schedule, and confirmed teams to be published in the coming weeks.
