New Netflix star Wes Saunders had a huge net worth before joining Outlast: The Jungle
Netflix star Wes Saunders had a highly successful sports career before stepping into reality TV.
The 37-year-old is featured in the latest season of Outlast: The Jungle, a survival game that pits 16 strangers against each other in the battle for $1 million.
The contestants are dropped into the middle of a jungle in Panama with nothing but basic supplies and must survive life in the wild. Among the players are influencer Halle Cooley and former American football star Wes.
His NFL career started in July 2011, when he signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent. The tight end player made it onto the team’s official 53-man roster in September of that year.
He later moved to the Indianapolis Colts in 2012, after serving a suspension for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse rules during his stint with the Steelers. Wes had tested positive for Adderall, a stimulant often prescribed for Attention Deficit Disorders.
Despite the hiccups in his early years, Wes still earned impressive wages from his sports career.
What is Wes Saunders’ net worth?
Wes Saunders has an estimated net worth of around $1.5 million. Spotrac estimates he earned around $1.2 million from his football contracts alone, but that doesn’t factor in his earnings away from the field.
Other reports from The Tab place the sports star’s net worth at a staggering $5 million. Either way, he is among the top earners on the Netflix show.
The competitive series has yet to crown a winner, with only a handful of contestants still in the running ahead of next week’s grand finale.
The remaining cast members are: Sarah Awad, Abby Chu, Morgan Colburn, Braxton Fish, Pharaoh Gayles, Nikki Hru, Maddy Jones, Leiya Pillitteri and Wes Saunders.
Ahead of its debut, showrunner Mike Odair confirmed that this instalment features one of the most interesting groups yet.
“This season felt like throwing gasoline on the format,” he told Netflix. “We traded the frozen isolation of Alaska for the heat and volatility of Panama, and everything changed: the survival, the strategy, and the social dynamics … This may be our most dynamic group yet.”
The first six episodes of Outlast: The Jungle Season 3 are streaming now on Netflix. The series finale airs on Wednesday, June 17.
