21-Year-Old Brazilian Girl Thrown Off Bridge Without Safety Cord, Mother Says, ‘That Damn Rope..’

Maria Eudarada Rodrigues de Freitas, a 21-year-old Brazilian girl, brutally died during the bungee jump accident. The people who were responsible for her safety forgot to attach the safety cord and launched her off the bridge. It was the people who were filming her who yelled and screamed at the horrific incident, and yelled that ‘the safety rope’ wasn’t attached. Now, her mother bared her heart out in a heart-wrenching post.

The Brazilian woman’s mother bared her heart out on learning about her daughter’s death during the bungee jump incident

While the world is left horrified at the negligence of the Bungee jump staff’s end, the mother of the Brazilian woman cannot believe she is no more due to a fatal mistake. She is in rage due to what happened and how it took her daughter’s life. She damned the rope that became the reason for her death at just 21.

The 21-year-old’s mother expressed how she wanted to hug her daughter more than a thousand times and how her death is still hurting her to the core. She expressed her love for her daughter and thanked her for being with her for 21 years. She called it an honour to be her mother. She wrote:

“That damned rope took you away from me forever. My beloved daughter, only today I wanted to hug you more than a thousand times. How it’s hurting me your departure. I love you forever, my princess. And thank you so much for being a part of my life during those 21 years. What an honor it was to hear you call me a mother. God, thank you for that privilege.”

For the unversed, the fateful site where the bungee jump was organised is called Skeleton Bridge, and it is named ‘skeleton’ as the construction of it was never completed. After which, the place has become a sport for unlicensed extreme sports activities. In 2024, another fateful accident happened at the place when a 39-year-old cyclist fell to her death. The mayor of the nearby town of Limeira stated that, given the way the young woman passed away, it is time to take proper safety measures in that area to keep it protected. He said:

“In addition to the circumstances that led to the young woman’s death, it is necessary to establish who is responsible for the lack of access control to a federal area which, for years, has posed known risks and is still without the necessary safety measures. We have been calling for action for months to ensure that the Federal Government assumes its responsibility. Unfortunately, its failure to act has just resulted in yet another tragedy in Limeira.”

To err is human! But to forget the most important thing, like a safety gear in the most dangerous sport, is just inhumane. This is what happened with Maria, a 21-year-old Brazilian fitness enthusiast. One of the three men detained in the matter, who threw her off the bridge, claimed that he just did not remember checking the rope on Maria before throwing her off the bridge. However, after the horrific accident, the first person who reached her was an off-duty nurse, Rayza Dias. She revealed that Maria was still alive. The nurse revealed that getting down wasn’t easy because of the muddy terrain, and she even injured her hand while attempting to reach the 21-year-old for first aid.
