Actor-producer Samantha Ruth Prabhu recently reunited with her former co-star and current Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay, and the meeting clearly left a lasting impression on her. Sharing photographs from the occasion on social media, Samantha opened up about her admiration for Vijay’s evolution from one of Tamil cinema’s biggest stars to the state’s elected leader.

A Reunion Years In The Making

Ahead of the meeting, Samantha had spoken about her excitement during an interaction with Galatta Plus. Known for her composed public appearances, the actor admitted that this reunion was different.

“I’m never excited to meet anyone,” remarked Samantha, adding, “But this time, I am truly excited as I have worked with him in three films. Everybody must be saying this, but I knew he was different and special.”

The two actors have shared screen space in three major commercial successes: Kaththi (2014), Theri (2016), and Mersal (2017). Their on-screen chemistry made them one of Tamil cinema’s most popular pairings during the 2010s, and Samantha’s comments suggest that she witnessed a side of Vijay that extended beyond his stardom.

Reflecting on his political journey, she revealed that his transition into public service never felt like a sudden move.

“It was brewing for many years… He stayed consistent with that focus and today, he is the perfect person for the job (CM post). I was following him very closely, like everyone else. We were praying for his victory. I’m not surprised by his victory,” she said.

‘Very Few People Actually Answer That Call’

Following the meeting, Samantha shared a heartfelt note on X, offering a glimpse into how she views Vijay’s new role and responsibilities.

“I think all of us, at some point in our lives, are called to do more. To look beyond ourselves and ask how we can contribute. Very few people actually answer that call. I have a feeling Vijay sir will surprise even the people who already believe in him. Not because of the position he holds, but because of the intent with which he approaches it.”

Her words have resonated strongly with fans, many of whom have closely followed Vijay’s journey from cinema to politics. The actor’s rise to the Chief Minister’s office marked one of the most significant transitions in recent Tamil Nadu political history, and support from colleagues within the film industry has continued to pour in.

Samantha’s remarks stand out because they come from someone who has worked closely with Vijay during some of the biggest phases of his film career. Rather than focusing on his popularity or political success, she highlighted what she believes has remained unchanged through the years: his sense of purpose and commitment.

Meanwhile, Samantha is gearing up for the release of her Telugu action entertainer Maa Inti Bangaram, which arrives in theatres on June 19. The film features Gulshan Devaiah, Diganth Manchale, and Gauthami in pivotal roles and marks another significant project in the actor’s evolving career as both performer and producer.

As Samantha balances promotions and production responsibilities, her reunion with Vijay has offered fans a nostalgic reminder of one of Tamil cinema’s most-loved on-screen collaborations, while also shining a light on the remarkable path her former co-star has taken beyond the silver screen.
