Music star Jelly Roll and podcaster Bunnie Xo may have given up on their 10 year marriage – but she has explained they will continue to try for a baby together

American rap star Jelly Roll and his estranged wife Bunnie Xo have vowed to go ahead to welcome a child together despite breaking up. Fans of the musician and his podcaster star ex were stunned this month when it was revealed they had called time on their ten-year marriage.

The Son of a Sinner singer – whose real name is Jason DeFord, 41 – married 46-year-old Alisa Carter, who is better known by her Bunnie Xo persona, in 2016. But it was reported this month that Jelly filed for divorce last month following an explosive argument with his soon-to-be ex-wife.

While Jelly has two children from previous relationships, he and Bunnie have not welcomed a child together. However, the pair began undergoing IVF treatment in the hope of adding to their family two years ago, and have now explained that they will continue this journey together despite the collapse of their marriage.

Taking to her Dumb Blonde podcast this week, Bunnie described Jelly as her best friend and shared news of her plans to welcome and raise a child with him. She told listeners: “The thing is, that’s my f***ing best friend, dude. Like, I love him.”

Opening up about motherhood plans, she went on: “And – you guys are going to be shocked to heat this – but we’re still having a baby. We’re still having a baby together.”

Lightly touching on the failure of their marriage, she continued: “We are going to co-parent together. Jay is my best friend. This isn’t what you guys think this is. Nobody cheated on the other person. It’s literally just… we served our purpose for each other, and I’m excited to discover myself single.”

Bunnie went on to explain that having a child will give her an entirely new outlook on her life and future. She explained: “I’m so excited to live my life through a child’s eyes, which is why, this baby journey, I am not going to let it break me and I’m not going to detour it. And Jay has been so f***ing great about us still having a baby together and he wants the same thing. We’re just going to raise little nugget as one big happy family.”

Opening up further, Bunnie shared details of her IVF journey to date, and her hopes for the future. She said: “In the last two years, when we decided to have a baby, I got on… I have to do IVF. My hat goes off to any woman, family, couple who is going through IVF because, let me tell you something, dude. That is one of the loneliest, darkest journeys you can be on. Yes, everyone can see the reward at the end, but it is not all bells and whistles.”

She then explained that she and Jelly had suffered heartbreak along their IVF journey so far. She revealed: “Jay and I have lost four embryos. We have had three transfers, but we lost the two twins we were going to try to have, and then we lost two more. Anybody that is going through that and has to deal with these miscarriages… it’s gut-wrenching.”

Earlier this month, TMZ broke news that Jelly had filed for divorce from Bunnie. As details of the split emerged, Bunnie took to her podcast to directly share with fans details of the split. While prior reports have suggested the pair endured an argument during the American celebration of Mother’s Day that they could not move beyond.

It was suggested that a spat ended in Bunnie demanding that her musician husband file for divorce – and he did so, soon after – with TMZ reporting that he blamed ‘irreconcilable differences’ and marking the date of their separation as the day before Mother’s Day. The chart topping star himself has opened up about his impending divorce by discussing his romantic strife while on the road.

Addressing fans at a concert in Saratoga Springs, New York, this week, he said: “I wasn’t going to talk about this tonight but while we’re talking about liars, the internet is a liar, too. It’s the only time and the only city I’m going to speak about this, so break your camera phones out now.

“Me and my wife are best friends. We will always be best friends. We just got off the phone earlier today. Nobody cheated on nobody. She just did a whole podcast about it, you can go watch it, every word of it is the truth. That will be my best friend forever. This will be the only time I will ever speak about it. Bunnie, I love you baby. Thank you for those 10 years, they were incredible. Thank you for the next 10 years of friendship, and 20 beyond that.”

Meanwhile, explaining what led to the separation, Bunnie previously said: “Jay and I have never been really good at having disagreements, so we were the type of couple who never argued … He would be holding things in and I would be holding things in, and it was a recipe for disaster.

“On Mother’s Day, we had a little bit of an argument, which I don’t think the details are necessary, and in that argument, I was so fed up and so tired that I just looked at him and said, ‘Well, then file the f**king divorce papers.’

“In our relationship, that is the one cardinal thing you don’t say, even though my husband has said it numerous times, because he’s the runner. But when I say it, it really holds weight, because I’m not the type of person who says what they don’t mean. I ended up leaving. I packed a bag and I left.”
