The magic of cinema is proving its power once again as Imtiaz Ali’s latest release, Main Vaapas Aaunga, continues to gather momentum at the box office. After a modest opening, the film has witnessed a remarkable turnaround in its second week, drawing praise from audiences and industry peers alike.
Alia Bhatt recently joined the chorus of appreciation for the project. Taking to her Instagram Stories on Tuesday, she reacted to a celebratory post shared by her Alpha co-star Sharvari, who also stars in Main Vaapas Aaunga, with a caption, “The magic of the movies.”

Sharvari’s post had highlighted the film’s impressive second-weekend surge, noting that Main Vaapas Aaunga had registered a 130 per cent growth on its second Saturday. The momentum has been further supported by the addition of new shows during the film’s second week, a direct result of positive audience word of mouth.
Talking about the overwhelming response, Sharvari shared an emotional note with her followers. She wrote, “I don’t know if there’s a greater feeling than seeing something you poured your heart into find a place in other people’s hearts. The messages, the videos, the tears, the conversations, the love… I’ve been reading and watching all of it, often with tears in my own eyes. Every actor dreams of being a part of a story that stays with people long after they leave the theatre.”

She further expressed her gratitude to the audience, adding, “Thank you for showing up. Thank you for feeling every emotion with us. Thank you for carrying this film forward with your love. My heart is very, very full. P.S. The polaroid in the last slide..”
The film’s director, Imtiaz Ali, has also expressed surprise and gratitude at the box office performance. During a recent visit to a cinema hall, he mentioned that the collections on the second Friday were almost double those of the opening Friday. Describing the experience as an overwhelming feeling, he credited the audience for the film’s resurgence. He said, “I am very happy, a little surprised, and grateful to the audience.”
