Katie Price has revealed the swipe her ex Dane Bowers took at her current husband Lee Andrews as she admits that the singer was the “love of her life”, despite only being together for two years
Katie Price has shared the brutal swipe her ex and “love of her life” Dane Bowers took at her marriage to Lee Andrews. The former glamour model shared that he messaged her “out of the blue” to beg her to say her marriage wasn’t true.
Katie’s revelations were made in a Q&A during a special screening of her documentary Katie Price: Nothing to Hide. She shared that after she and Dane broke up in 2000, she overdosed in an attempt to get his attention, but he did not reach out and they only saw each other sporadically at events afterwards. He did, however, message her after the news broke that she had married Lee just 10 days after meeting him.
She said he asked: “Please tell me this nonsense with Lee is a load of rubbish?” The audience laughed at the question, and Katie was also said to have cracked a smile.
Katie and Dane were together from 1998 to 2000. Though their relationship only lasted two years, she insisted in her docuseries that he was the love of her life.
The 47-year-old said: “Dane Bowers! I used to adore his songs. Why am I grinning? He was the love of my life. Did you tell him that? Why did he muck it up? He’ll probably point the finger at me.”
She also recalled the first time they met, saying they “just locked eyes” at a film premiere and that even though he “might have been the chubby one”, she started talking to him and couldn’t stop thinking “I fancy you”.
“From the outset, everything went smoothly. I remember adoring his music,” she said. And the revelations kept coming: “We always used to play Boyz II Men and make love. He was quite cocky but very attentive to me. I just recall when we kissed, it was amazing. I loved Dane. Yes, I did.”
Dane isn’t the only one of Katie’s exes to get time on the documentary. Gareth Gates, who Katie had a fling with in 2002, took part in the series.
Gareth reportedly lost his virginity to Katie. At the time of their fling, he was just 17, while she was 23 and pregnant with her first child, Harvey. The two had a long-running feud afterwards, as Gareth initially denied sleeping with Katie.
He later said that he was “shocked” when details of their relationship reached the news: “I haven’t ever spoken about relationships. I believe that relationships are between two people and I couldn’t believe that somebody else was selling stories about very, very intimate details.
“I was shocked. But I learned a lot about the industry, and trust. I would never have done that to her or anybody else. It was a real learning curve for me.”
Talking about Gareth’s involvement in the series, Katie said: “Imagine meeting someone 25 years ago and then they sort of ghost you. You don’t know why and then you go forward 25 years and then you get the answers.”
She went on: “Because he had thought I’d done something which I didn’t do and now, he finds out, it really wasn’t me. The shock on his face and the shock on mine – everyone was like, ‘you and Gareth, that was the one that got away!’”
