HYDERABAD: Computer Science (CS) and allied branches continue to dominate engineering admissions in Telangana, accounting for nearly 71 per cent of all seats in the first phase of TG Eapcet-2026 counselling, according to data from the technical education department.
Of the 81,620 convener quota seats available across 175 university, constituent, private university and private unaided engineering colleges, 58,038 are in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Science, Information Technology (IT) and related streams, representing 71.1 per cent of the total intake.
Electronics and Electrical branches account for 15,795 seats, or 19.4 per cent, while Civil, Mechanical and allied branches together offer 6,871 seats, making up 8.4 per cent. Other disciplines such as Chemical, Agricultural, Biotechnology, Mining and Food Technology collectively account for just 916 seats, or 1.1 per cent.
Among individual branches, Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) had the highest number of seats with 27,431, accounting for 33.6 per cent of the total. It is followed by Computer Science and Engineering (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning) with 13,537 seats (16.6 per cent), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) with 10,851 seats (13.3 per cent), and Computer Science and Engineering (Data Science) with 7,479 seats (9.2 per cent).
At the other end, specialised courses such as Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Geo Informatics and integrated mechanical programmes have only 21 to 30 seats each.
The counselling process begins on Thursday. A total of 84,002 candidates have paid the processing fee and booked slots, while 36,393 candidates had completed certificate verification as of June 24. Web options can be exercised until July 1.
