Natalie Cassidy says she was left ‘traumatised’ after her daughter Joanie, 9, broke her arm for the third time and joked the hospital is more like a hotel for the family

Soap star Natalie Cassidy’s young daughter has had to be rushed to hospital again after breaking her arm for a third time following a terrifying accident at school.

The EastEnders legend, 43, said she felt like she had a “nervous breakdown” after Joanie’s bones were left “in pieces” following the fall before her PE lesson. The youngster was taken to A&E just weeks after having metal plates removed from her arm following another accident last year.

Nat shares her nine-year-old daughter with fiancé Marc Humphreys and the Sonia Fowler star is also mum to 14-year-old Eliza from a previous relationship with her ex Adam Cottrell. She says poor Joanie is getting used to hospital but the latest “traumatic” visit left the mum in bits.

Speaking on her podcast Life With Nat, she said: “I’d done a little bit of work in the morning at home. Marc went outside, put the paddling pool up, cut all the grass — thinking we’re going to have a few days, like a mini holiday, at home.

“Then the phone rang. She slipped over in the hall, before doing PE. I’m speechless. It’s so traumatic. A few years ago she broke her arm, and it was a clean break. She then broke it again, they put all the metal work in.

“Eight weeks ago, she went under general anaesthetic, had it all out – and has done it again. I felt I was going to have a nervous breakdown, actually. I’m being really honest here. I really fell to pieces. I was not in a good place. Just her little body – and the medication and the trauma of it all.”

The Albert Square long-server fears her youngest may have ‘some sort of deficiency’ due to the various injuries but added on the pod: She’s had full blood tests, and everything is in range. It’s absolutely perfect. The consultant actually said, ”I do think it’s just really bad luck.”

“The hospital was quite warm for the few days we were in there. The staff, they’re not moaning, they’re laughing, they’re joking. Just wonderful, wonderful people. We were so well looked after again. It’s like a little trip, now. It’s like being in a hotel!”

Natalie has had a rocky love life. She started dating Adam in 2010 and got engaged soon after, though their relationship quickly became volatile. The pair split in 2011 but got back together for the sake of their daughter Eliza, before parting ways for good in 2013. At the time,

Natalie said: “It was my decision. I’m really glad I gave it another chance. When kids are involved you almost have to. I can always say to Eliza, ‘Mummy tried, but it didn’t work out’.”

The following year, Natalie moved on with Marc, cameraman she met on the set of EastEnders, and announced their engagement in 2015. In February 2016, Natalie announced they were expecting a child, daughter Joanie.

The pair are still engaged and Natalie told OK! the duo “still fancy the pants off each other”. She said they have plans to tie the knot someday soon. “I do think we’ll get our close family together at a lovely place in London, go to a restaurant and have a big party afterwards,” she revealed.

Speaking about when she wants to get married, Natalie added: “Ten years would be a brilliant time to do it. Either 10 years together or 10 years engaged.” The star admitted she’s been “indecisive” about the type of wedding she wants and swings between wanting a huge white wedding and wanting something really simple and “really easy”.
