SS Rajamouli Honoured at Cinémathèque Française Baahubali and RRR Screened in Paris

SS Rajamouli has received a rare honour in Paris. The acclaimed filmmaker behind Baahubali was felicitated at the Cinémathèque Française, the renowned French film institution that houses one of the world’s largest archives of films and cinema-related artefacts. As part of the event, his landmark films Baahubali and RRR were also screened.

Rajamouli took to social media to share his emotions. He said it was an honour to have his films screened at the institution. However, the biggest surprise, he revealed, was receiving a permanent place within its historic halls, named after Henri Langlois, the legendary pioneer of film preservation.

The director said words could not fully express his gratitude. He thanked filmmaker Costa-Gavras and the entire Cinémathèque Française family for embracing Indian cinema with such warmth and affection. Rajamouli also recently spoke about his upcoming film Varanasi. Despite its grand scale and mythological elements, he revealed that the film is, at its heart, an emotional father-son story.
