Fox, who loves to dabble in unique nail art and never sports the same design twice, once again teamed up with Brittney Boyce, celebrity nail artist and founder of the Lost Angels nail brand, for her latest set, which fuses classic French tips with the currently trending blooming gel technique and 3D silver “piercings,” which we’ve recently seen on stars like Alysa Liu and Kat Dennings, not to mention Fox herself last year.
“Summer doesn’t always have to mean florals or pastels,” Boyce tells Allure of the inspo behind Fox’s nails. “I wanted these to feel fun without looking too polished, mixing bright pops of color, animal print, and metal accents that clash in the best way.” When you read off each singular element on its own, it does sound like they might clash when blended up together; Fox’s fingers were a medley of pink, blue, and brown croc-inspired tips, each one dotted with a few bold silver dots that looked like surface piercings studding either the tip of her almond-shaped nails or just below. But they don’t clash at all!

The bright pink and turquoise blue motif felt undeniably summery, with the brown nails serving as a grounding element. The blooming gel resembles a crocodile print, which definitely suits Fox’s pretty-slash-edgy personal style, as does the strategic placement of silver balls and rhinestones across each nail. The application of said 3D elements wasn’t uniform, which made it feel all the more fresh and unique—not to mention perfect for a seasonal mani that really stands out. So the next time you’re confronted with some manicure indecision, don’t be afraid to pair a few trends together for something totally bespoke.
