EastEnders icon Kellie Bright is married to an actor who has also starred on the BBC soap, twice.
EastEnders icon Kellie Bright has played Walford’s Linda Carter for nearly 13 years, and she isn’t the only actor in her family.
As the matriarch of the Carter family, Linda has really gone through the drama mill since setting foot in Albert Square back in 2013.
She has battled alcohol addiction, suffered a terrible sexual assault, had a fling with Max Branning (Jake Wood), and her childhood sweetheart, Mick (Danny Dyer), is presumed dead.
On Christmas Day in 2023, in a horror twist, Linda killed Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) in The Queen Vic. As the mechanic tried to strangle Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) to death, Linda grabbed a meat thermometer and plunged it into his back, killing him instantly.
Linda, Sharon, Kathy (Gillian Taylforth), Stacey (Lacey Turner), Suki (Balvinder Sopal), and Denise (Diane Parish) all helped to cover up the murder, with Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry) taking the blame for the crime after he was diagnosed with a terminal illness.
Eventually, Linda and her mum, Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe), sold The Vic and opened up a bed and breakfast on the Square. She still hasn’t managed to find a new life-partner, despite a recent fling with Grant Mitchell (Ross Kemp), but that could change in the near future.
Who is Kellie Bright married to?
Away from the BBC soap, Kellie Bright’s life couldn’t be further from her Linda Carter alter-ego. The 50-year-old from Brentwood is a mum of three boys, including Freddie, Gene, and Rudy, whom she shares with Paul Stoker.
Kellie met her husband, Paul, while they were starring in a play together; he was just 24, and she was 31. The pair married in Cornwall back in 2014.
She once spoke about the couple’s seven-year age gap and their plans to have a family.
Previously speaking to OK! Magazine, Kellie said: “Reality kicked in. I was 31 and wanted to have kids, and Paul was 24 and didn’t at the time. I felt it wasn’t fair to Paul, I worried he’d resent me.”
However, Kellie, who admitted she “loved Paul” before they had even kissed, couldn’t tune out her passion for her man for long.
She added: “After a bit of headspace, I realised I was cutting my nose to spite my face. I thought, what are you doing? Take your foot off the gas.”
Paul, from Redbridge, is famed for his role in the 2007 hit movie Atonement alongside Keira Knightley and James McAvoy.
He also starred in the BAFTA award-winning movie The Mark of Cain, along with appearing in numerous stage productions, including Two Noble Kinsmen, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, and Six Degrees of Separation.
In 2016, Paul appeared in EastEnders as a policeman before returning five years later to portray a vicious robber at The Queen Vic.
In one scene, he can be seen threatening Linda, grabbing her from behind, and placing his hand over her mouth.
His other acting appearances include Casualty, Doctors, and most recently played Roscoe in the Podcast series Tagged.
EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday on BBC One and iPlayer
