Khammam: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday said the next Assembly elections in the state are likely to be held in May or June 2029, instead of December 2028, citing the proposed delimitation exercise by the Centre.

Addressing a Rythu Ashirvada Sabha at Jagannathapuram village in Chintakani mandal of Khammam district after releasing Rythu Bharosa funds, the Chief Minister alleged that the BJP was planning to pass the delimitation Bill during the upcoming Parliament session.

He said the number of Assembly constituencies in Telangana would increase from 119 to 182, while Lok Sabha seats would rise from 17 to 26 following delimitation. Revanth Reddy asserted that Congress would win 117 Assembly seats and return to power, saying he was taking an oath in the name of Lord Rama of Bhadrachalam on the party’s victory.

The Chief Minister claimed that Congress had accurately predicted its performance in the 2023 Assembly elections and the subsequent Lok Sabha polls, and said the party would once again secure a decisive mandate.

Launching a sharp attack on the opposition, Revanth Reddy said he and his government would work 18 hours a day until they politically defeated K. Chandrashekar Rao and the Kalvakuntla family. He also accused BRS leaders of conducting “fake surveys” and alleged that internal conspiracies existed within the Kalvakuntla family.

Highlighting his government’s welfare measures, the Chief Minister said the state had spent ₹1.70 lakh crore on farmers in the last two-and-a-half years. He said the government was procuring paddy and providing a bonus, unlike the previous BRS regime, and asserted that free electricity to farmers was a “Congress patent.”

Referring to the Medigadda barrage, Revanth Reddy said filling it with water would submerge Bhadrachalam and questioned whether politics should come at the cost of the temple town. He also alleged that senior BRS leader T. Harish Rao was holding secret meetings with BJP leaders and challenged him to deny the charge publicly.
