VIJAYAPURA: The release of water into the canals under the Tubachi–Babaleshwar Lift Irrigation Project in Tikota taluk began on Saturday as a precautionary measure to ensure drinking water for people and livestock amid deficient rainfall.
Industries, Infrastructure Development and Vijayapura District In-charge Minister MB Patil appealed to farmers not to divert the water for irrigation, stating that it had been released exclusively to meet the drinking water requirements of people and cattle.
Patil said ensuring drinking water availability remained the government’s top priority and urged the public to cooperate by using the released water only for its intended purpose.
