He’s one of the country’s beloved TV stars, but who is Robert Rinder‘s ex-husband and why did they split?
The barrister, who became a lawyer in 2001 and worked in financial law for nearly 15 years before beginning his career in the telly world, shot to fame on ITV’s Judge Rinder.
Since then, it’s fair to say he has kept himself booked and busy: from landing a hosting gig on GMB to fronting his own travel shows.
Away from the TV sets and shows though, Rob was previously married to his long-term partner before their romance ended in heartbreak. Rob married political adviser turned fellow legal expert Seth Cummings in 2013 in sunny Ibiza.
What’s more, Rob’s best pal Benedict Cumberbatch was on hand to make things official. He confessed at the time: “We got married, it’s no secret, but no one was supposed to know – somebody put the pictures on Facebook.
“Seth used to be a political adviser to George Osborne, now he’s a lawyer in a serious firm. And now when you Google me it brings up his name and Benedict!” he exclaimed.
He added that he and Benedict had been close friends since their college days, when they both studied at Manchester University together. However, he was adamant that he would “never want to piggyback on his superstardom”, vowing: “Never have, never would.”
Sadly, in 2018 it was reported that Rob and Seth had ended things. A source told The Sun at the time: “It’s very sad news but Rob is separating from his partner of 11-and-a-half-years. He’s very upset about the situation, but the split is amicable and no one else is involved.
“Rob has never spoken about his relationship and nothing will change on that front. He very much wants to focus on his work, including Judge Rinder on ITV which he absolutely adores.”
Recently Rob and Rylan Clark sparked romance rumours as they appeared to grow close while filming the BBC’s Rob and Rylan’s Grand Tour series. What’s more, Rylan also opened up about his relationship with Rob and joked he “might as well put a ring on it”.
However, TV star Rylan insisted he and the TV judge were just friends. Nonetheless the pair couldn’t help but tease the romance rumours and Rob shared a photo of himself and Rylan posing together while wearing orange flower garlands around their necks. As Rob shared the photo on X, he wrote: “He said maybe @Rylan.”
