To make the match even special, his ladylove was present at the courtside. After the game was over, during the press conference, Bam made sure to credit his girlfriend for his historic performance as his name was recorded as the second-best scoring performer in the NBA.
After three months of milestone moments, Bam shared a conversation he had with his girlfriend’s father, and it left him extremely emotional. During the docuseries, Life in the W, Bam revealed the moment when he asked his girlfriend, A’ja’s father, Roscoe for her hand in marriage.
For those who don’t know, in many cultures before popping the marriage question to the lady, a man asks her father for her hand in marriage. Bam revealed that when he asked the most terrifying question, he got the sweetest reply. He said:
“That was the most terrifying question I had to ask that man. I was like, ‘Man, would it be cool if I married your daughter?'”
However, A’ja’s father had the sweetest reply. He told her that if he got A’ja’s heart, you got two more hearts with you, and he needs to take care of it. He said:
“It seems as though you have A’ja’s heart. If you got A’ja’s heart, you got two more hearts with you. Take care.”
However, this one line left the macho man, Bam Adebayo, crying, and he went to the bathroom to tear up. For those who don’t know, Bam and A’ja have been the most-loved basketball couple ever since they made their relationship public. Once in an interview, A’ja Wilson talked about her partner, Bam’s qualities, and stated that he will do the smallest things when he thinks she is overstimulated. From opening a car door to holding her hands when he thinks her anxiety is blowing out. She said:
“He’ll do the smallest of things, like opening a car door when he feels like I’m overstimulated, or just holding my hand and knowing if I’m getting too high, if my anxiety is blowing out the water.”
Bam also talked about his reaction after A’ja faced criticism; he expressed that he got heartbroken due to it. And as much as he wants to get on the internet to rip the critics off, it’d be better if he doesn’t.
