John Cena has been transparent about undergoing two hair transplants. In a conversation with PEOPLE, the former wrestler got candid about his new shaved hairstyle and revealed that it has been going great. He admitted that the ultimate goal was to get more hair. He called it a life-changing transformation and thanked his doctor for helping him achieve it. He was quoted as saying:
“The objective is to get more hair, and this was the best way to do it, talking with Ken Anderson, my doctor over there. I love the guy. He’s totally changed my life.”
In the same conversation, John Cena revealed that he was so impressed with the doctors who run the Anderson Center for Hair in Georgia, that he returned 15 months after his first procedure for a follow-up. The actor even explained how Andercon can transplant the hair faster if the patient’s head is shaven, referring to his new buzzed look, and stated:
“I went back to him like, ‘Man, you did great. I have this one small, small, small spot. Can you do it?’ He’s like, ‘I can. My best results are — if you’re bold enough to shave your head, I can keep the follicles.’ My first operation was 13 and a half hours. The second one was eight hours. And I’m rocking this hair thing with the promise that he’s working. I have full trust and faith in him with this process.”

It was back in June 2026, when John Cena opened up on Facebook about undergoing his second round of follicular unit extraction (FUE). For the unversed, according to the American Hair Loss Association, FUE is a form of hair transplant surgery that utilizes small-diameter surgical punches to extract individual follicular units for hair restoration.
He wrote, “Round 2 of FUE Treatment and this time I went all in for the best possible results. Thank you, Ken Anderson and the staff at Anderson Center for Hair for accompanying me on this journey!” The actor further revealed that he previously underwent the transplant in late 2024. In August 2025, John Cena told People:
“They’ve held me accountable. They don’t let you get away with phoning it in, because they’ll eat you alive. That’s what a good support system does. As I was trying to hide my hair loss, the audience was bringing it to light. I saw their signs that said, ‘The bald John Cena.’ They pushed me to go see what my options were and actually do some homework to learn about scalp health, hair health, and follicle health.”
John Cena spoke about his routine and said, “I now have a routine: red-light therapy, minoxidil, vitamins, shampoo, conditioner, and I also got a hair transplant.” He also shared what he regrets about the procedure and revealed that he hates the amount of shame there is around the procedure. He admitted that otherwise he would have gotten the procedure done almost a decade ago. He added, “I thought I was alone, but seven or eight out of 10 [men] suffer from thinning or baldness.”
