Mica Harris, 21, and Samraj Toor, 25, were the latest chosen as the couple to leave the villa – but drama is ahead as they get to pick the couple who are heading home with them

There may be only hours left of Love Island 2026 but that hasn’t stopped ITV2 producers from bringing in one final brutal twist.

This weekend, after getting the most votes from their fellow contestants, Mica and Samraj said their final goodbyes to Yasmin, Tommy, Angelista, Simba, Jasmin, Kavan and Julia and Lorenzo who discovered their would be going the distance. Or so they thought.

But what they didn’t know was that they need to leave a parting gift. As they left the villa they received a text revealing they would be dumping another couple – and they would be leaving with them.

In a first look at tonight’s finale, the remaining islanders learned of the brutal decision they had to make. The short clip show just how tense things are going to be this evening and the cameras roll in the bedroom as the axed pair come to terms with the decision that they have to make.

Mica and Samraj deliberate on who should stay and who should go as Samraj tells her: “We love everyone there, we have to remove friendships and biases…” She tells him: “Who am I to choose and decide people’s fate?”

Back in the garden, shocked Simba reads out a message as reality hits home that one more couple is also heading home.

He said: “Before Mica and Samraj left the villa they had a big decision to make, only three couples can make it to the final. They had to pick one couple to dump.”

The group looks stunned as they release two of them will soon be joining Mica and Samraj, ending their chances of winning the show.

But who goes? Who they have picked will be officially revealed in tonight’s live final by Maya Jama. The pair were voted as the weakest couple by Tommy, Robyn, Ethan, Elicia, Finley, Halle, Jordon and Martha, picking up eight votes out of a total of 18.

The decision will determine who joins them in leaving the villa and which three couples will compete for the Love Island crown.

The twist did not go down well with viewers, as angry fans flooded X, formerly known as Twitter, to hit out at the decision to shake up the final week.

One user wrote: “I actually hate when the Islanders get the decision,” while another said: “Producers are pathetic for that plot twist. Not even a gag just unnecessary.”

A third fumed: “This plot twist is absolute bu***hit, producers don’t give a f**k about the public opinion.” While another viewer stated: “They’ve done this final week so poorly it’s a joke. why are we having drama the day of the final???? i’m so tired.”

A fifth user argued: “It makes zero sense to give Samraj and Mica a say in who reaches the final when the public has repeatedly voted them into the bottom. The logic just isn’t there…”
