According to Sacnilk, Spider-Man: Brand New Day collected an estimated Rs 60.60 crore net in India on its opening day across 17,250 shows. The film’s India gross stands at Rs 72.44 crore.
The English release led the way with Rs 32.25 crore, recording around 55 per cent occupancy across 7,987 shows. The Hindi version followed with Rs 22 crore and an impressive 95 per cent occupancy across 6,977 shows.
With this opening, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has registered one of the biggest opening days for a Hollywood film in India. It has surpassed the opening-day gross collections of Avengers: Endgame (Rs 65 crore) and Avatar: The Way of Water (Rs 48.75 crore). The film has also opened ahead of several major Indian releases, including Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone’s Pathaan and Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar, further highlighting the franchise’s popularity among Indian audiences.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day picks up after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, where Doctor Strange’s spell erased Peter Parker from everyone’s memory. With no Avengers to rely on, no Stark technology and no one remembering his true identity, Peter returns to protecting New York as a friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man. As he attempts to rebuild his life, he faces a dangerous new threat while grappling with unexpected changes to his own powers.
Filmfare gave the film 3.5 out of 5 stars and wrote in its review, “Tom Holland delivers one of his finest performances as Spider-Man. Older, wearier and more vulnerable, he finally gets the space to play Peter Parker without constantly leaning on Iron Man’s legacy or multiverse spectacle. Zendaya, despite limited screen time, brings warmth and quiet heartbreak to every scene, while Jacob Batalon effortlessly reminds us why Peter and Ned’s friendship remains one of the franchise’s most endearing relationships. Jon Bernthal’s Punisher also makes a strong impression, serving less as fan service and more as a moral counterpoint to Peter’s unwavering belief in doing the right thing. Mark Ruffalo makes a brief appearance both as Bruce Banner and as Hulk. One of the best action highlights of the film is The Punisher squaring off against Hulk. But this isn’t an action film but an emotional ride, so the set pieces are kept to a minimum. Florence Pugh also makes a tiny appearance as Black Widow. We get to see her office, which is basically an indoor pool. And…that’s it.”
