Spider-Man: Brand New Day is out in cinemas now, and a post-credit scene has confirmed what might be in the future for the masked vigilante

A post-credit scene in Spider-Man: Brand New Day has appeared to confirm what might be in store next for Peter Parker.
The latest Spider-Man in the beloved franchise has had incredible success since it’s release on July 28, grossing $1.10 billion worldwide, officially becoming the highest-grossing film of the year – even up against stiff competition with The Odyssey and Michael. So it’s probably a no-brainer for Sony that they will be making another film in the franchise, and they may have given viewers a hint at what that might look like.
In a scene that some may have missed, filmmakers hinted that we might next be seeing our friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man…in space.

During Brand New Day, the audience is introduced to Ned’s Spider-Man tracking app which tracks the superhero using sightings from app users – think Waze, but instead of notifying the app of traffic jams, users are reporting where they have seen the superhero in the city.
Well in a post-credit scene that many moviegoers may have missed if they didn’t hang around to the very very end of the credit sequence, the app showed that Spider-Man’s location was in Queens as per usual, but then came a new Spider-Man sighting with ‘location unknown’.
As the app zooms out farther and farther even passing our moon, there’s a glitch, and then another and finally the location is confirmed – somewhere in space.
So what does this mean? Spider-Man is going to space? Well this wouldn’t be the first time Peter Parker finds himself in space as for Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man found himself accidentally whisked off Earth after following Tony Stark/Iron Man on a mission to stop Thanos.
This could also mean that Spidey will be popping up in the next Avengers film Doomsday. The film’s synopsis reads: ‘The Avengers join forces with the Fantastic Four, the Thunderbolts and Earth’s other mightiest superheroes to save the multiverse from the evil Doctor Doom.’ Which most certainly sounds like an off-planet excursion!
However, this could also be hinting at the plot of another Spider-Man film, as it was also confirmed that this won’t be the last movie in the franchise, with a noticing telling fans at the vety very end of the post-credits scene: ‘Spider-Man will return’.
Fans have their own theories about the post-credit scene, with some speculating that this could be an entirely different Spider-Man being tracked on the app with Andrew Garfield or Tobey Maguire set to reprise their superhero role once more in Doomsday.
Given the huge success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, which featured the trio (Holland, Garfield, and Maguire) as Spider-Mans from different multi-verses, this could be a strong theory.
But of course, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is known for throwing some curve balls, so writers could pull ideas from any of Stan Lee’s comics, and throw fans completely off course.
