A Brazilian influencer has been left fighting for her life in Bali after a horrific motorbike accident, with her family issuing an urgent appeal for assistance.
Lis Santos Bayir, born Elisangela Aparecida dos Santos, was holidaying in the hotspot when she was involved in a collision while riding a motorcycle on August 1.
The popular content creator was rushed to BIMC Kuta Hospital, where she was transferred to the intensive care unit in stable condition.
Her family issued a statement, asking for B+ blood donations as Bayir remained in the ICU, according to local media.
“We urgently need donations of type B+ blood,” the family said in a statement.
“Anyone who can donate or share this request will make a huge difference to her recovery.
“She continues under intensive care in the ICU, closely monitored by a dedicated and attentive medical team.”
According to the Daily Mail, the family said they no longer need blood donations as they had reached their goal and thanked everyone who “helped and continues to genuinely pray for her recovery,”
“The best news we can share is that Lis is out of the ICU and continues to recover all in her own time,” they said in Instagram Stories on Monday.
“The doctors themselves are calling her a miracle.”
Details surrounding the accident have not been disclosed; however, in another post, her family slammed people who labelled Bayir’s accident as an “act of irresponsibility.”
“I would like to address a serious matter. Unfortunately, certain pages have been acting in a sensationalist and dishonest manner, labelling [her] accident as an act of irresponsibility,” they wrote, according to the Daily Mail.
“No one was there at the moment of the crash to judge what actually happened.”
They continued that the family is “already suffering enough, and we will not tolerate this kind of opportunism.”
“Any profile or page that creates, spreads, or comments lies about Lis will be reported and will face legal action.”
Her husband Ahmet Bayir shared a video on Tuesday holding his wife’s hands tightly.
“I know you will smile like that again and light up the world with your beautiful energy once more,” he wrote.
“You are stronger than you imagine, and I know you will rise again.”
Bayir, who has more than 18,000 followers on Instagram, regularly shares content about her travels and wellbeing.
The personal trainer recently faced one of the greatest challenges of her life by overcoming breast cancer.
She documented her journey on Instagram, using her voice to advocate for mental health.
“Not every transformation begins by choice. Some begin when life takes away everything you believed you were,” Bayir said in a recent post.
“I lost my hair. I lost my body. I lost my sense of control.
“But it was precisely there that I found a strength I didn’t even know existed.”
Many have since taken to her Instagram to leave her messages of strength and well wishes.
“Liz, you are so strong and a warrior!!! Praying for your recovery,” one person wrote.
“Lis! We’re praying for you! You’re an inspiration! Let’s go!” another added.
