Dipika Kakar, who is best known for her role in the popular TV series Sasural Simar Ka, is going through a tough phase. For the unversed, Dipika is undergoing routine infusion and immunotherapy sessions every 20 to 21 days as part of her recovery. Recently, her husband, Shoaib, shared an update about her weight loss. While Dipika’s fans are waiting for her return to daily soaps, the TV actress opened up about why she can’t return at the moment.
Dipika Kakar reveals why she cannot return to daily soaps
In a recent vlog, Dipika Kakar was happy to share that she was going for dance rehearsals amid her ongoing treatment. Dipika herself revealed in the vlog that she is currently shooting for a music video with her husband, Shoaib Ibrahim.
Talking about making a comeback with the music video, Dipika said that a daily soap would be difficult for her due to her present health condition. She explained that due to the ongoing treatment, she also has side effects that restrain her from doing constant work. She added that while a one-day shoot is possible, long-day shoots would be hectic for her. She said:
“Is waqt meri condition dekhte hue daily toh mujhe nahi lagta main kar paungi. And obviously matlab koi mujhe aise treatment ke saath koi mujhe cast kyun karega? I mean, it’s very obvious. Ismein koi sochne wali baat hi nahi hai, kyunki treatment hai, side effects hote hain, so that’s okay. But gaana ek din ka shoot definitely manage kiya ja sakta hai.”
Dipika Kakar was last seen in the TV reality show Celebrity MasterChef 2025. However, she had to leave the show midway due to health issues. Her last full-fledged TV soap opera was Kahaan Hum Kahaan Tum in 2019. She underwent a 14-hour-long surgery for a stage 2 liver tumour in June 2025. Later, in July 2025, a rumour surfaced that Dipika was all set to make a TV comeback. Some unconfirmed reports claimed that Dipika would be seen opposite Vivian Dsena in a new show.
However, Dipika set the record straight by replying to fans when they asked about her comeback. She shared that she would love to, but due to health concerns, she cannot. She mentioned that whenever the doctor gives her the green signal, she would make a TV comeback. Dipika also shared that her initial plans were to return to TV after her son, Ruhaan, stops breastfeeding. For the uninitiated, Dipika and Shoaib welcomed Ruhaan in 2023.

Dipika has had her own share of ups and downs in her personal life. In 2011, she married her beau Raunak Samson. However, their marriage was short-lived, and they parted ways in 2015. The TV actress gave love and marriage another chance and got married to her co-star, Shoaib Ibrahim, on February 22, 2018. Back in 2011, Dipika crossed paths with Shoaib on the set of Sasural Simar Ka. They played the role of husband and wife in the hit TV series.
In an interview with ETimes TV, Dipika shared that Shoaib was there beside her when she was going through a tumultuous marriage. The year 2025 was a tough year for Dipika as she was diagnosed with a tennis-ball-sized tumour in her liver. It was Shoaib who became her pillar of strength during that phase. From taking her to the hospital for treatments and tests to sharing updates with fans about her health, Shoaib did it all.
